It started on an ordinary afternoon in a Portland kitchen.
Tyler was trying to do something simple: bake cute dog treats with his daughter. They had the dog, they had the enthusiasm, and they had about 45 minutes. What they didn't have was a simple way to do it. The recipes they found required a pantry full of measured ingredients. The kits they found weren't much better.
So Tyler — a home cook with over a decade in CPG and ecommerce — decided to make something simpler. Something where the whole point was the experience: the mixing, the rolling, the cutting, the smell of oats and peanut butter filling the kitchen. And then watching the dog lose her mind when the treats came out of the oven.
That's how Scratch Treats started. With a kitchen, a kid, a dog, and the conviction that baking treats for your pet should be fun, not complicated.
What we make
Scratch Treats are bake-at-home dog treat kits. Each kit includes all the dry ingredients you need to make approximately 90 fresh treats. You add water, roll the dough, cut it with the included cutter, and bake for about 20 minutes. No measuring. No specialty ingredients. No mess beyond what you'd expect from any baking project.
We have three flavors: Peanut Butter Original (the classic), Vegan Cheeze (savory, dairy-free), and Purple Pup (naturally purple, antioxidant-rich, genuinely a conversation starter). All are plant-based, wheat-free, and made with real, recognizable ingredients.

We're based in Portland, Oregon. Our kits are made in the USA. The ingredients are chosen with care and transparency — if you want to know what's in every kit and why, our ingredient page tells you exactly that.
Our mission
A portion of every Scratch Treats sale goes to Project POOCH, a non-profit that pairs youth in the justice system with shelter dogs. The dogs become more adoptable. The young people learn skills and responsibility. Both get a second chance. It's work worth supporting, and we're glad to be part of it.
We started Scratch Treats because we believe treating your dog should be something you make, not just something you buy. We hope you'll give it a try.
